A bracelet is an article of clothing or jewelry which is worn around the wrist. Bracelets can be manufactured from cloth or metal, and sometimes contain rocks, wood, and/or shells. Bracelets are also used for medical and identification perposes, such as allergy bracelets and hospital tags.
The recent use of colored silicone rubber as a material for producing sports bracelets was popularized by Nike and Lance Armstrong through the Yellow Livestrong band. Its success has led to the use of these 'awareness' bracelets as low cost tools for information campaigns and charity projects. These sports bracelets are also known otherwise as 'baller id bands', 'wristbands' or 'baller bands'.
Although the term 'armlet' may be technically similar, it is taken to mean an item that sits on the upper arm. The origin of the term 'bracelet' is from the Latin 'brachile' meaning 'of the arm', via the Old French 'barcel'.
Taken in the plural, bracelets is often use as slang for handcuffs.

Wish Bracelet The Wish bracelet is a piece of jewelry with beads. Popular folklore holds that the wearer should make a wish while putting the bracelet on, and rub the beads every day. When the bracelet finally comes off, the wish is believed to have come true.
Power Bracelet
In many Legend of Zelda games by Nintendo, the Power Bracelet could be used to move and/or throw heavy objects or even some enemies around, like the Dodongo species. Power bracelets are typically moved to smash obstacles that are blocking the way of the user, such as boulders, stones, and pots. The power braclet has a pinkish-red stone emblazoned in the middle, and the rest of the bracelet is usually brownish in color.
In ''The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening'', the power bracelet could be upgraded to Level 2, thus enabling Link (the hero) to lift large statues and throw them. They were supposedly strong enough to "lift a whale" in the description when he obtained the bracelet. In ''The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Ages'', Link got a similar upgrade, but they were in the form of gloves, obviously entitled Power Gloves. With this he was able to lift large sarcophagi with his arms and heave them out of the way.
Friendship Bracelets Friendship bracelets are special, usually self-made, bracelets given from one friend to another as a symbol of their friendship. Their styles vary, but they are usually made out of embroidery thread or wool. Traditionally, they are not meant to be removed from the wearers wrist until they fall off naturally. If they are intentionally removed the friendship is said to be over.
Broken Bracelet ''Broken Bracelet'' (2000) was Michelle Branch's first album, and was released on an independent record label, Twin Dragon Records.
The album consisted of 11 tracks, four of which ("If Only She Knew," "Sweet Misery," "I'd Rather Be In Love," and "Goodbye To You") were later re-recorded for inclusion on her Maverick Records release ''The Spirit Room'' (2001). All tracks were written by Michelle and longtime friend Jennifer Hagio, with the exception of, "Stewart's Coat," originally by Rickie Lee Jones.

Awareness Bracelet Awareness bracelets are monochromatic silicone-rubber wristbands that are sold to raise money and "awareness" for a variety of charitable causes. They have become a fashion statement as well, with the display of multiple differently colored bands becoming relatively common.
The first such band was the Livestrong Yellow Band, which raises money for cancer research. It was created in 2004 by Lance Armstrong, a professional cyclist and cancer survivor. After the success of the Livestrong bracelet, supporters of a variety of other causes, from relief for Asian tsunami victims to Alzheimer's disease research, have created similar bracelet campaigns.

Memorial Bracelets A memorial is an object served as a memory of something, usually a person who has died or an event. A bracelet is an article of clothing or jewelry which is worn around the wrist.
A memorial bracelet is a cuff style metal bracelet worn around the wrist which is usually made of either aluminum or stainless steel and engraved with the name of a person who died or an event. These bracelets are worn as a way to make people aware of the person that has died and the reason for the death or to commemorate a, usually tragic, event such as the World Trade Center bombing.
