: ''This article is about the former Secretary of State. For the actor, see Robert Lansing (actor).''
Robert Lansing (October 17, 1864 – October 30, 1928) was United States Secretary of State under President Woodrow Wilson between 1915 and 1920. He was nominated to the office after William Jennings Bryan's resignation. Lansing was a strong advocate of U.S. participation in World War I on the side of the Allies. After the war, he became the nominal head of the U.S. commission to the Paris Peace Conference. Because he did not regard the League of Nations as essential to the peace treaty, Lansing began to fall out of favor with Wilson. During Wilson's stroke and illness, Lansing called the cabinet together for consultations on several occasions. Wilson was disturbed by Lansing's independence, and Lansing resigned in 1920 at Wilson's request.

The Lansing Lugnuts are a Class A minor league baseball team, affiliated with the Toronto Blue Jays, that plays in the Midwest League.
The Midwest League came to Lansing in 1996. The franchise began in Lafayette, Indiana, in 1955; after two seasons it moved to Waterloo, Iowa, where it stayed for 36 seasons. Before the 1994 season it moved to Springfield, Illinois, but it only spent two seasons there before moving to Lansing. The Lugnuts were affiliates of the Kansas City Royals from 1996 through 1998 and the Chicago Cubs from 1999 through 2004 before joining the Jays' farm system for the 2005 season.
The team plays at Oldsmobile Park (named after the now-defunct General Motors division that was based there), which opened in 1996. The franchise attendance record of 538,326 was set during its inaugural year.

Sherry Lansing Sherry Lansing (born July 31, 1944 in Chicago, Illinois as Sherry Lee Heimann) is the former CEO of Paramount Studios.
Her mother, fled from Nazi Germany at age 17, and spoke no English when she came to the United States. In 1962 she graduated at University of Chicago Lab School. She pursued an acting career after graduating from Northwestern University. Dissatisfied with her acting skills, she wanted to learn more about the film industry from the ground up. She took a job with MGM as head script reader and worked on two successful movies, ''The China Syndrome'' and ''Kramer vs. Kramer''.
This lead to an appointment, at age 35, as the first female president of 20th Century Fox. She was also part of a production comany run by Stanley Jeffe. In 1992, she was offered the chairmanship of Paramount Pictures' Motion Picture Group. During her tenure as Chairman of Paramount, the studio has produced such blockbuster hits as ''Forrest Gump'', ''Braveheart'', and ''Titanic''.
As studio chief she focused on bottomline rather than marketshare, preferring to take less risks and make lower budget films than other studios. While this stratergy paid off for a long time in 2004 in the face of increasing flops she stepped down as CEO of Paramount.
She married director William Friedkin on 6 July, 1991.

Later movie roles included a part in 1967's "Hillbillies in a Haunted House."
She starred in short musical films for the Scopitone video-jukebox system, which anticipated MTV by decades. Some of these films, particularly "The Web of Love," have gone on to become camp classics.
